The project is surrounded by the vastness of the desert, like a ship travelling through space. Being underground, it minimizes its impact on the surroundings. The only openings, the craters and the zenithal windows in the corridors, permit the visitor to see only one thing outside the museum: the sky and the stars.
The craters are a reference to the surface of dry celestial objects, like Mars or the moon, while their layout might resemble a solar system; the exhibitions halls, the planetarium, etc. are in orbit around the central crater which shelters the spaces for astronomical observation.
