Although I consider myself a product of "formal" education, I have always been evoked to question it. I have learned more on my own, through curiosity and "informal" reading, due to the fact that I come from an extensive home made up of six older brothers with diverse professions, which allowed me to have vast access to a very varied academic bibliography.

Through formal education, I’ll soon obtain an architect's degree. This has not been easy, precisely because of questioning traditional teaching methods, but without it, this project wouldn’t be presented. I think there should be a balance between the two.

Criticisms of formal education and academic preparation such as those suggested in both videos by Sir Ken Robinson come from times as immemorial as we can see with Diogenes (400 BC), Jean Jacques Rousseau or Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi (between 1700 and 1800) or Maria Montessori, Karl Marx together with Frederick Engels already in the 20th century. Much of this is implicit in "The Part played by Labor in the Transition from Ape to Man" which shows us that there is much that can be done and learned outside of the formal education system, which sometimes helps much more, but society gives more value to a degree obtained by a standard institution.
I have three daughters I educated from a very young age, and who motivated my search to help them in their training, encouraging their curiosity beyond what was learned in school. Because of them, I stumbled upon books such as, “El diablo de los números” by Hans Magnus Enzensberger, “¿Cómo funciona el cerebro de los niños?” Annie de Acevedo, the previously mentioned pedagogical theories of Rousseau, Pestalozzi or Montessori, or the lectures of Ken Robinson or Álvaro Bilbao, with which, it can be clearly determined that the importance of good education is in fostering the innate curiosity that the human being, combined with adequate communication for the transmission of knowledge and respect between and for all human beings, as Juan Luis Arsuaga says, "Espero que algún día nuestra tribu sea la humanidad entera", in the article published by XLSemanal.
Based on all the above and taking into account the objective proposed by you in the contest rules:
“This is an ideas competition that seeks to reward talent, creativity, and the promise of the participants. This is not a traditional design competition.”
I would like to expose my architectural proposal based on the 17 objectives for sustainable development proposed by the UN that can be taught to preschoolers through playful learning, with samples and examples, such as the collection and use of rainwater, the cultivation of small plants, the use of solar and wind energy, the transformation of mechanical energy into electricity, the water cycle and other adjustments implemented based on the SDGs.
My approach is, obviously, a classroom as a complement to the other infrastructure necessary for the proper development and operation of a preschool educational center. Since this is the objective of the contest.
I have decided to name it Kuychi which means rainbow in Quechua, the native language of my native country ECUADOR.
