Susan Carruth is a Partner and Head of Operations for GXN Innovation – a daughter company of 3XN Architects in Copenhagen, which focuses on strategic sustainable innovation in the built environment. Originally from Scotland, Susan is an architect and researcher, with 18 years of experience across practice and academia. After practicing as an architect in London for 9 years, Susan relocated to Denmark in 2012 to begin her PhD, which explored the sociocultural and spatial dimensions of renewable energy infrastructures. Following this, she was Head of Research and Sustainable Development for White arkitekter in Denmark, before beginning with GXN in 2018. Susan’s key focus is behavioural design, which is one of GXN’s specialist fields, alongside circularity and technological innovation. Her work seeks to instrumentalise scientific knowledge of the relationship between mind, body, and environment in order to create environments that promote well-being, community and an elevated user experience.
