Magüi González

Magüi Gonzalez, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 1953, is an Architect and Teacher of Architectural Projects in ULPGC. Awarded First Prize of the Canary Islands Architecture Awards in 1996 and 2005, Finalist at the Fad Awards 2006 and at the Xth Spanish Architecture Biennial Award in 2009.

Since 2004 she is a member of DoCoMo Ibérico technical commission. She is in charge of registering, documenting and publishing the most relevant works of the modern movement in the Canary Islands between 1925 and 1975.

In addition to her studio work, Magüi González was co-founder, along with Jose A. Sosa, of Nred Arquitectos, an informal association whose objective was to create new ideas for Architectural competitions. Among the competitions they won and implemented are worth mentioning the Judiciary Headquarters of Las Palmas and the Rehabilitation of the Town Hall of Las Palmas.

Their last Works, Projects and Writings are published in the monographs “Nred Arquitectos”, Actar, Barcelona, 2006; and “Abstract Natures”, Aedes, Berlin, 2008.  One of their last writings is “Ampliaciones en el Patrimonio arquitectónico” published in the book “30 años de Intervención en el Patrimonio Arquitectónico Español”.
