Francisco Mangado (Navarre, 1957), architect from the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra, where he is teaching since 1982. He has been a guest professor at the Graduate Schoool of Design at Harvard University, Aero Saarinen guest professor at the Yale University, guest professor at the EPF Lausanne Polytechnic School, Baird and Gensler guest professor at Cornell University and guest professor at the Milan Polytechnic.
Among his works stand out the Conference Centre and Auditorium of Pamplona "Bulwark", the Archaeology Museum of Vitoria, the Spanish Pavilion for the International Exhibition Zaragoza 2008 and the newly opened Fine Arts Museum of Asturias in Oviedo. Currently his professional work takes place in several countries. Thanks to this professional work has received among others, the Prize of Architecture Andrea Palladio, the FAD of Architecture, the award of the CEOE, the Construmat Award for Architecture, the Architecture Prize Fernando Garcia Mercadal, the prize of Architecture of Asturias, the Giancarlo Ius gold medal awarded by the International Union of Architects, the Copper prize in Architecture, the RIBA Award and the Spanish Architecture Award 2009, among others.
In 2011 he was named "International Fellow" of RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) and in 2013 an honorary member of AIA (American Institute of Architects).
In 2008 he founded the Architecture and Society Foundation, which has received the gold medal CSCAE (Higher Council of the Collages of Architects of Spain) 2015. In July of 2015 he was appointed as General Coordinator of Biennials and under his coordination the Spanish Pavilion was awarded with the Golden Lion of the Venice Biennale in May 2016.
