Founder of Ingenhoven Architects.

1978-1984: Studied architecture at RWTH Aachen.

1980-1981: Studied architecture at Academy of Arts Düsseldorf under Prof. Hans Hollein.

In 1985, he founded the architectural studio of ingenhoven architects which has today become one of the world's leading architectural practices in sustainable design. The determining factor in ingenhoven architects' work is ecology; the well-being of the user, technical progress, a logical construction with a clean finish, as well as great sensitivity towards light and space. Sustainable and ecological architecture is a negotiated agreement. The use of regenerative energies and resources like geothermal energy and rainwater as well as intensive integration of daylight and natural ventilation of buildings all play important roles in ingenhoven's design concepts. With a minimum consumption of energy and resources­, his projects aim for the highest utilization comfort.

Ingenhoven architects focus is mainly on office buildings, high-rises, company headquarters, department stores, industrial buildings, transportation projects, university and education buildings, as well as master planning. Among the best known projects are the RWE headquarters in Essen, one of the world's first ecological high-rises, the Burda Media Park in Offenburg, the Lufthansa Aviation Center in Frankfurt, the European Investment Bank Building in Luxembourg and the Uptown tower in Munich. The new main station Stuttgart, currently under construction, was awarded with the Global Holcim Award in Gold for sustainable design. As a carbon-free and zero energy building, it requires no heating, cooling or mechanical ventilation. The high-rise tower 1 Bligh is the first building in Sydney, rated 6 Star Green Star and 5 Star NABERS Energy, and received since its opening several awards as the CTBUH Best Tall Building Australasia and the International High Rise Award 2012/13.

Christoph Ingenhoven is a member of numerous prestigious architectural organisations and juries. He is an appointed member of the NRW Academy of Science and Art.
