Alejandro Beals (Chile, 1976). In 2001 he receives the title of Architect from PUC (Chile). In 2012 he got a Master of Philosophy degree at the Royal College of Art (RCA), London, where he researched about boundaries and borders in architecture, under the supervision of professor Nigel Coates (2009-2012).

Loreto Lyon(Chile, 1979). In 2005 she gets the title of Architect from PUC (Chile). In 2011 she got a Master of Science degree (MSc) in ‘Environmental Design and Engineering’ from the Bartlett, University College of London (UCL).

After living and studying in London, in 2012 they found the architecture studio BEALS LYON ARQUITECTOS, an independent practice distinguished by careful attention to local context, materials and details. Their work includes private houses, the winning installation for the Chilean version of the YAP 2012/2013 (MoMA – PS1 Young Architects’ Program) and winning proposals for public buildings, such as a town hall in Central Chile and the “New Library of National Congress”, this last right in Santiago’s historical centre.

They currently teach a Master’s Studio at Universidad Católica de Chile. In 2018 they taught at Cornell University AAP and in 2016 and 2017 at the IUAV in Venice.

Their published and exhibited extensively. In 2016 Ediciones ARQ publishes the monograph “Beals Lyon Arquitectos: Public Voids”, featuring a selection of recent work about public architecture.
