The Amazonia observatory is developed in Rio Purus, lake Aiapúa, as this site has in its surroundings most of the characteristics of almost all kind of Amazon landscapes/water landscapes. It represents the essence of Amazonia once it has river, forest, lakes, "igarapés", dry/wet soil that change between flood and ebb season, (variation about 3m waterline), indigenous occupation and a relative proximity to an urban center as Manaus, that allows a easier access to the observatory.
The river is the common element to all amazon.
characterizes the forest as a whole, and determines the various landscapes along the seasons.
therefore, it's through the river and affluents, Amazónia must be seen, understood, explored. It's the link that connects countries, landscapes, margins, tribes, ...
It serves as the support for all kind of routes between spaces, piers, by the use of typical boats.
The piers can be extended to all Amazônia, changing according to different physical supports! They are the connection points to a all new undiscovered, deep, extensive forest!

Following a path consist itself in an act of continuous and permanent observation. The path defines the way "Amazonia" is shown, it links observaton structures. Whether it's on water (fluvial routes), land (pedestrian paths to observe and explore the forest), or even the spiral path up to the treetops to chill and lookout birds.

The proposal reinterprets shapes, geometries, materials, textures, atmospheres, light filters, peculiars to Amazon.
The sense of place is taken as a starting point to propose the way Amazon is seen!

The concept of the circle found in nature / tribal construction is recreated and reinterpreted, in a way it's possible touch, watch, intersect, examine, explore and interact with the environment. It is through to the privileged use of wood, of simple construction techniques, filter light, the rhythms of trees, permeability, shadows, textures, ... are explored in the project.
