IEAP-1152 "WATER MUSEUM"

The project is located in the People's Republic of China, in the city of Hangzhou. The site is in the middle of the "Xixi" Wetlands, a place where nature and water is all around.

My projects starts to develop with some initial ideas like the mark that the water could leave along the time, the water and its reflections or elements that float or could be immersed...

The water level in the site, in the Wetland in general, could change around 2 meters, because of that the project site is going to be flooded . The site has a small island, so the first decision is to place the building in the island, with that we want to emphasize the contact between the water and the built element.
I propose a project in different stages, that will be defined depending on the changes of the water levels, that will go making the shape of the building, modifying the walks or tours through the spaces, this will create different feelings for the visitor along the year.

The water is now the principal constructive element of the project, that depending on the month of the year will allow to see and go across the architecture or will flood it, hiding it in some parts and demarcating its walks.

In the sections, the idea is to create a light architecture, almost floating on that water and it is make with the use of another material, wood.
It is starting to appear some key ideas of the project like: flooded roofs, pond platforms, pond water-fall platforms, green platforms that will have aquatic plants that could allow the changes on the water level.

How is working the water in the building, how is working the water's cycle?
Raining water is collected in flooded roofs, this water falls down like a water-fall into the ponds platforms. This water is used to provide water to the museum like toilets, coffee shop, restaurant...the rest of the water collected that is not necessary for the museum is sent back to the Wetland.

The location of the building in the island, leaving free the rest area of the site, is going to be an "Eco-Park" that will have as well all the parking area necessary for the museum, but is not a common parking area, because the occupation of the vehicles is different, as in the rest of the museum, depending on the natural conditions of the site each day or each month.

To finish, the project and the building has always in mind the water and the nature of the Wetland, with the strong presence of the water in and outside the spaces of the museum, that falls down to the pond platforms, that creates a visual and resounding spectacle, as unique and special at the same time, for the visitor.
