Profound contemplation on the nature of the fjords results in a project that emerges from water and stone, two elements that forged the pride of Norway. ‘With persistence a drop of water hollows out the stone’ – this phrase found in classical Greek metaphorically and literally represents the process of creation of the fjords, as massive blocks of ice cut through the stone, sculpting U-shaped valleys. Essentially it is the force of water that constitutes the fjords. Therefore, we decided to place our projects inside the Seven Sisters waterfall, the embodiment of the elements that began it all.

Fundamentally, the persistence is what is needed to achieve the viewpoint. Nowadays, the era of tourism simplifies every difficulty in order to gain the profit quickly. This problem is especially visible in Norway, crawled with tourist, no matter what the time of the year is. As far as our project is concerned, one cannot obtain nature effortlessly. The viewpoint is located close to the historic Knivsflå farm, that can be reached through a boat and then a mountain road.

Once reached, the entrance leads to a tunnel submerged in a mountain. Due to the space creation the senses sharpen. The effect of the echo is increased, we can feel the presence of the waterfall even if we don’t see it. Inside the tunnel the walls are polished, revealing the section of the mountain and the abundance of minerals that constitute it. Following the source of light we notice the falling water very soon but not only until the last moment the magnificent landscape stretches ahead. With the power of nature present within a reach fear needs to be overcome to step on the narrow strip of the platform and fully experience the greatness of the fjords.

The only material added is the steel platform, due to the respect of the nature the only intervention done is the minor excavation of the mountain.
