Presentación

Since 1996, SHoP has set the standard for creative innovation in the field of design and architecture and modeled a new way forward with its unconventional approach to design. At the heart of the firm's method is a willingness to question accepted patterns of practice, coupled with the courage to expand, where necessary, beyond the architect's traditional roles.

SHoP principal Kimberly Holden has been at the center of this deeply collaborative practice for twenty years, as SHoP has designed and built civic icons (such as the Barclays Center arena in Brooklyn), popular public spaces (including Pier 15 on the East River), and, under construction now, a skyscraper on Manhattan's 57th Street that will be the most slender tower in the world. With a background in art history, Kim is also deeply involved in SHoP's portfolio of cultural projects. She received her Master of Architecture degree from Columbia University, where she was awarded the Lucille Smyser Lowenfish Memorial Prize for excellence in design.
