Nathalie de Vries, Ir. FRIBA (b.1965, Appingedam, NL) is one of the founding directors of the globally operating architecture and urban planning firm MVRDV. Nathalie de Vries studied at Delft University of Technology from 1984 to 1990 and graduated with a Master of Architecture with Honours. Since 2013 she has been Professor for Architecture at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf.

She has held a wide variety of positions across the academic, cultural and public sectors. She recently joined the boards of  ‘The New Institute’ for architecture, design and e-culture in Rotterdam, the Witte de With Gallery for Contemporary Art, also in Rotterdam, and the trustees of the International Building Exhibition (IBA) 2020 in Berlin. She has been board member of the ‘Museum of the Image’ in Breda since 2010. 

Before that she was Chairwoman of the BNA Research Program, and was Chief Railroad Architect for ProRail/NS from 2005 to 2008. In addition to these positions, she has previously been a board member of the Netherlands Architecture Fund, member of the Design Committee Salzburg and member of the founding board of Dutch architectural journal OASE.

She also regularly lectures, takes part in international juries and teaches at universities and institutes worldwide, including the Harvard Graduate School of Design, the Technical University of Berlin, Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Berlage Institute in Rotterdam and Delft University of Technology.
