Our building responds to the theoretical dichotomy of the Sublime and Picturesque as framed by Edmund Burke by creating two zones from two building types; poché and unbounded space. The first zone is upward looking (related to the sky), while the latter is outward looking (related to the landscape). Upon ascending the chasm-like ramp, the visitor immediately experiences particular framed views of sky, leaving the earth behind and beginning a journey into the domain of the stars. The central observation area creates the ultimate skyward frame.
