Times change
As times are changing, so are people and their way of life. Office hours will hardly exist, people will choose their own times to work and connect with their surroundings. Innovation and idea creation emanates from creativity and immediate thoughts regarding our way of living. The ever inspiring city is a great source for inspiration and spontaneous dwellings.

Office as a parasite
Public space will no longer be just a way to get through the city, but will offer citizens a space to participate in creative dwellings and organisations.

2038, anonymous diary:

Where are we? We have taken ourselves to this point. I do not know what we were thinking about. We built cities made of glass in deserts. We cut down forests and jungles to increase our production. We kept polluting our atmosphere in order to produce goods that we did not really need, etc. It was an untenable situation, but we realised too late.

Wadi Al Remam's area and specifically the 10 Arches bridge site and it's surroundings have a very clear existing social phenomenon. All of those were being observed and being done but in an unsafe way and without giving any attention to them and value, so the project is accommodating these actions of walking, sitting, playing and working through taking the spaces and facilitating it to make more livable especially for children, you can relate also from the variation of the existing features.

IE School of Architecture and Design announces its fifth IE SPACES FOR INNOVATION PRIZE for young architects and designers worldwide. This award recognizes talented young designers by offering scholarships to our world-class Master’s Degree, and facilitating full-time, paid internships in some of the world’s top design firms.

The competition is open to all young architects and designers who completed their undergraduate or graduate studies during or since 2014.

The winning entries will be awarded admission* to IE’s Master’s in Strategic Design of Spaces for the 2019-2020 academic year; a partial scholarship towards the program tuition fees; and a full-time, paid, professional internship in one of three internationally-renowned design firms: UNStudio (Amsterdam, Netherlands), Studio O+A (San Francisco, USA), or Aecom (Madrid, Spain).

IE School of Architecture and Design

The IE School of Architecture & Design is one of the most innovative architecture schools in Europe. With a unique combination of design and entrepreneurship, the IE School of Architecture & Design pushes the boundaries of traditional architectural education. Our students are exposed to a multidisciplinary approach that prepares them to meet the needs of an ever-changing world.

IE welcomes students from all around the world who seek challenges and aspire to become leaders in the dynamic fields of architecture and design.

Master in Strategic Design of Spaces

The Master’s in Strategic Design of Spaces was created to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to approach challenges emerging in the world of interior space design.

The program focuses on three types of spaces; work, retail and education. We spend a considerable percentage of our time occupying these three spaces, and they continue to be in constant motion in terms of technological innovation.

The program was designed in partnership with the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design at the Royal College of Art in London - a research center specialized in design ethnography - where students will complete one of the program modules.

Students will gain first-hand experience by working alongside leaders in the field when visiting top studios, and through attending an IE Architecture and Design special lecture series.

The IE SPACES FOR INNOVATION PRIZE is open to all young architects and designers who finished their undergraduate or graduate studies in or since 2014.

Candidates must present a digital collage where they illustrate their insights and reflections regarding the future of work, retail and educational spaces.

What will these spaces look like in two decades? How will we be working, shopping and learning? How will technology affect daily life in each of these spaces?

Candidates should explore these questions and express their ideas in a collage, using original or existing images. The collage allows candidates to highlight their professional or academic work, as well as depicting their sources of inspiration. When using images produced by a third party, be sure to clearly note the authorship. Texts and graphics may also be used in the collage.
