Ildefonso Aguilar

Artist and cultural and artistic projects consultant in Lanzarote


Born in Salamanca in 1945 and lives in Lanzarote from eight months of age. Between 1963 and 1968 studied and qualified at the School of Fine Arts in Santa Cruz de Tenerife as Professor of Drawing and Painting.

During the years 1970 to 1976 carry out the activity at the School of Applied Arts and Crafts in Arrecife in Lanzarote. During this time, he made several audiovisual presentations on Lanzarote, using photography, sound and video. In the years 1978, 1979 and 1980 by traveling to different countries audiovisual and sound recordings. From the year 1969 produced the background music for Los Jameos Water Route of the Volcanoes, Cave of the Greens and Cactus Garden in Lanzarote.

Between 1968 and 1985 held the post of Director of Cultural Department of the Cabildo de Lanzarote. Since 1986, dedicated exclusively to the artistic activity and works as an adviser to certain cultural and artistic projects with various public institutions on the island. In 1989, he created, and since then directed, the Visual Music Festival of Lanzarote until its last edition in 2002. In 1993, commissioned by the Cabildo de Lanzarote, artistic director participates in the recovery project Janubio scenic route, for which he designed a light and sound installation in the crater of the Gulf. In 1999 and ends complete the second phase of the Center for the Arts, Culture and Tourism Casa del Campesino, originally created by César Manrique.

He has edited several books and picture books and music recordings. He has designed numerous original graphics for posters, books and records. Since 1964, various countries performed in solo exhibitions of painting and photography, as well as interventions in the natural environment, multimedia installations and audiovisual projects.
