On August 1991, the World Wide Web, became publicly available. Over those couple of decades, we have witnessed a revolution in business and education. Prior to the internet, knowledge was preserved in the form of handwritten files, crammed in a room, only accessible to a selected few because, rarely, there were multiple distributed copies of written work. professions were geared towards service of production and manual labor.

We know the theory(*).
Now... LET IT HAPPEN!

(*)
In spite of tech growth, it is accepted that there is -still- the need for physical environments where to develop ourselves as social beings.
It is responsibility of architects to respond to the demands of the future, and already the present, concerning many different fields, like education, work and retail, among others.
Re-thinking the capabilities we want the citizens of tomorrow to gain, needs to re-think spaces where they run their daily life.

Nowadays everything changes so fast, so, why can we do the same with different environments of our daily life? Are they updated?
During these years, technologies have evolved a lot and they are used in most of the situations we can imagine, but we can still take a step further in order to offer not only better experiences but also bespoke solutions.
Under the proposal, the learning or working environments could be stylish and innovative without forgetting people use them. Customizable spaces according to necessities, circumstances, persons or events.

Master in Design for Work, Retail and Learning Environments

The Master in Design for Work, Retail and Learning Environments is a forward thinking post-professional program that not only examines the profound changes occurring in environments for work, retail and learning, but also explores the tools and knowledge needed to innovatively design these spaces for the future. The IE Master in Design Work Retail and Learning Environments is a pioneering program as it stretches across traditional boundaries based on analyses, skills and strategies for understanding and proposing creative ideas for changing environments.

The program has been designed in partnership with the Helen Hamlyn Center for Design at the Royal College of Art in London, a research center specialized in design ethnography where the students will undertake one of the modules of the program.

The program focuses on three types of space - the work space, retail and learning environments - that are most important for our everyday lives and which are the three realms where the most dramatic changes are occurring in terms of concepts, technology and  cutting-edge innovation.

The participants in the IE SPACES FOR INNOVATION PRIZE have to present a digital collage where they will be showing their insights and reflections about the future of work, retail and learning environments.

How will these spaces be in two decades? How will we be working, shopping and learning? How will technology affect our daily life?

Candidates can express their ideas about these questions through a single digital collage, with images belonging to their own production or by others. The images used for the collage can therefore be part of the academic or professional work by the candidates, along with images of projects and references by other designers.

The IE SPACES FOR INNOVATION PRIZE will award the winners with the following prizes:
